The truth is that there are no easy ways to build resilience, but just the process of thinking that challenges or tasks are “easy” often helps to break down our mental barriers so that we can take the first step to move forward.
Based on my experience, I hope to share some ideas for building resilience to make your work journey easier:
This would be the most important aspect of building resilience. You need to see the good in everything. Even when you meet with failures or challenges (eg regulatory), you need to ask yourself: Is there any business opportunity I can derive from this? This would help shift your focus to be pro-active to changes or failures.
Always keep a “Ideas box” where you can throw all your ideas, thoughts or projects that you want to do. You can quickly jot it down in a journal or excel; and re-visit later.
Don’t underestimate your 2-second idea that popped up in your head while you were jogging or driving, this might be the greatest idea that leads to your success!
Tip! You can setup a creative corner at work or home (maybe looking out a window), where you can sit without distractions and let your ideas flow.
When you have time to re-visit your “Ideas box” (point 2), you can sort them by “the path of least resistance”, starting with ideas that cost the least time & money and start trying out your ideas. The faster you try out your various ideas (regardless whether successful or not), the faster you will learn what works and what doesn’t.
After making a careful decision, always stick through it single-mindedly what you have set out to do.
That’s because self-doubt is your worst enemy which can keep you from achieving great success.
Always be forward-looking for industry changes and future trends, so that you can adjust your business accordingly. Being aware of current affairs and sometimes following the right social media is one of the best sources of news.
