BTS ARMY Fan Life & Our Finances: How to Be a Dedicated Fan Without Breaking the Bank

Are you a BTS ARMY fan from Singapore? Whether you’ve been with BTS since the beginning or joined the journey more recently like I did in 2019, do you remember when the boys announced their group “hiatus” to fulfill their military service? Many of us thought, “Finally, a break for our hearts and our wallets!” After years of albums, concerts, and merch, it seemed like the perfect time to take a breather. But… what were we thinking? We were so wrong!

BTS and their company are always hundred steps ahead, planning things beyond what we could imagine. Once that announcement hit, ARMYs worldwide were greeted with solo debuts, solo album releases, solo world tours, solo documentaries, members’ birthday café events, and of course, fresh merch drops—back-to-back. Our wallets didn’t stand a chance! It feels like BTS gave their best, even on a “hiatus,” leaving us wondering whether to be happy or to cry.

As a financial planner and a BTS ARMY fan, I totally understand the struggle between wanting to support the members while also keeping your finances in check.
