You got a letter.
Your hospitalisation premiums are going up. Again. And nobody explained why.
I know because my phone has been ringing. Clients calling to ask if they should downgrade. Clients asking if they are overpaying. Clients who are just quietly frustrated and do not know what to do with that letter sitting on their desk.
So let me just explain what is happening.
Over the past few years, private hospitalisation claims have been rising sharply. People with comprehensive riders that covered almost everything, naturally used their coverage more. More claims meant higher costs for insurers. Higher costs meant higher premiums for everyone, including you.
MOH looked at this and decided something had to change. In November 2025 they announced that new riders coming into the market from 1 April 2026 will work differently. Less coverage on the front end. Lower premiums as a result.
Insurers did not wait for April. They started adjusting their pricing ahead of the changes. That letter you received is part of that adjustment.
So your premiums going up is not random. It is the downstream effect of a system that has been under pressure for years finally being restructured.
Now here is the part I want you to sit with.
Getting that letter and immediately deciding to downgrade or remove your rider is a very human reaction. I understand it. But it is a decision that deserves more than five minutes of frustration.
What you have in place today, you qualified for when you were younger and healthier. That is not something you can take for granted going forward.
Before you make any changes, let us look at the full picture together.
Just Karen speaking about things that matter to the heart.
